As you get older in softball, the coaches stop pitching underhand tosses to you, the girls on your team pitch to the other team's batter. Here are the steps to pitching a strike (for righties):
1. Put your right foot slightly above your left, and angled on top of the mound.
2. Hold the ball in your right hand, turn you glove so that the back of it is under your right hand, and then throw your hands back.
3. Then, bring your hands back together and in one smooth motion, swing upwards then drop to your belly button and reach your hands outwards as far as you can.
4. As you do that, take a giant step with your left foot and point your right foot down at the ground.
5. Bring the hand holding the ball up above your head and circle your arm.
6. At your hip, release the ball and follow through to you ear and drag your pointed foot up reaching the left.

The postition of catching is very important. As a catcher, you have to keep the pitcher calm, determine strikes verry fast, not being afraid of getting hit by a ball or a bat. The catcher has to be able to get dirty and make great throws on a steal. The catcher has to know the signs, and know the plays. This sounds difficult, but once you get it, you got it!
